The Afghanistan Public Interest Hearing Resumed
This morning on April 6, 2010 the Afghanistan Public Interest Hearing resumed. Commission counsel and counsel for the parties all made opening statements. Commission counsel also entered several collections of documents into the public record.
Government Counsel raised security issues with respect to some evidence, pursuant to section 250.42 of the National Defence Act, and the Afghanistan Public Interest Hearing rules and made a request to hear a portion of the hearing in private or in camera. After hearing submissions from the parties, the Commission granted counsel’s request that certain evidence be heard in private.
A public decision will follow by the Commission. Transcripts of the testimony heard in private will be made available to the public and/or media upon request through the Commission.
